You'll likely want to quicksave after every encounter. That wouldn't be such a problem without the uneven difficulty. Wizard and priest spells can be cast X times between rests, and camping supplies (which allow resting in the field), are limited by your game settings. Endurance comes back but health does not, and this game has permadeath. Resting is really important as you lose endurance and health with every hit. The gameplay is pretty much what you'd expect from tabletops. It's kind of jarring because the voice actor will recite his lines and as you are reading along, you will hit a textual description that says something like, "He gets up from his chair and wanders to the window before continuing." Yet the voice actor will continue reading his lines without a pause. Flavor text, descriptions of the actions that you take ("You throw up a grappling hook and scale the wall" before being warped to the top), and even descriptions of what characters are doing interspersed with their sometimes-spoken dialog. I'll admit that it does feel like a tabletop RPG in video game form, but that's mainly because they describe so much in text. I'm 17 hours in, and I'm not enjoying it as much as other recent "retro" CRPGs. So, I'm honestly kind of torn on this game.
